Remember the buzz of playing games together with friends, side-by-side? That electric feeling of shared laughter, friendly rivalry, and creating awesome moments in real-time?
Now, creating your own simple and fun games is easier than you might think. LLMs have made it possible for anyone to design interactive mini-games using JS, often without much prior knowledge.
What if you wanted a multiplayer version of Chrome Dino? Or a 5x5 Tic-Tac-Toe with multiple symbols and crazy custom rules? Or maybe a unique Skribbl.io where the prompts are generated based on your friends' inside jokes?
What You'll Build
In this workshop, we'll equip you to turn those wild ideas into reality:
We'll start with the fundamentals, building a browser-based Tic-Tac-Toe on a local Node.js + Socket.io server. You'll master real-time communication from scratch.
Next, you'll craft a LAN-based Skribbl.io replica, featuring generated questions perfect for hilarious group fun!
Finally, we'll dive into rebuilding the Chrome Racer. You'll explore how modern web tech can bring this classic to new platforms, and even glimpse how AI can rapidly enhance building on the web!
We’re focusing on LAN for this workshop, to keep it simple. You can easily extend your LAN game to work on the cloud. So you’re not limited to playing with friends on your Wifi.
